Advantages of PET Film

Transparency: PET films transparent finish makes them ideal to showcase products. This is particularly advantageous for products where visual appeal is important, making them ideal for food, beverages, and personal care items. This can assist customers who need a clear view of the contents inside the packaging to ensure its consistency, texture, color, and freshness.

Durability: The PET film rugged nature allows it to withstand a wide range of temperatures and conditions. They offer good puncture resistance and tensile strength that can protect products during shipping and handling. They also have a long shelf life when stored properly. PET films ensure that the product it protects stays in good condition until the end of its life.

Flexibility: These films are elastic and can be easily formed into various packaging formats. Whether they’re wraps, pouches, sleeves, or wraps, PET films are easily malleable for different packaging needs. PET films can also be used for industrial use and large items such as cars, motorcycles, medical equipment, and capacitors.

Environmentally friendly: These films can be recycled and reused for other products or new packaging of other products. Some communities have even created practical items such as bags and household items out of used PET packaging.

PET Film Properties

It has good mechanical properties, the impact strength is 3 to 5 times that of other films, and the folding resistance is good.

Oil resistance, fat resistance, dilute acid, dilute alkali, and most solvents.

It has excellent high temperature resistance and low temperature resistance performance. PET film can be used in the temperature range of -70°C to 150°C with little effect on its mechanical properties.

It has excellent gas barrier, water, oil and odor properties.

High transparency, can block ultraviolet rays, and have good gloss.

Non-toxic, tasteless, good hygiene and safety, can be directly used for food packaging.

Heat Transfer Release Coating PET Film

PET Film Production Process

The blank slices, mother slices and recycled materials are re-granulated and fed to each silo through the fan.

Then automatically batch and mix the materials according to the given ratio, and then enter the pre-crystallizer for pre-crystallization after mixing evenly.

After the raw material is pre-crystallized, it enters the drying tower for drying.

The dried raw material enters the extruder. The raw material is heated and melted in the extruder, passes through the metering pump, filter and adapter, and then reaches the die to form a thick sheet.

After the polyester melt flows out from the die lip of the die head, it is pressed onto the quenching roll by the adsorption system to rapidly cool the cast sheet.

The thick sheet is stretched by the longitudinal stretching machine and then enters the transverse stretching system for transverse stretching, and finally passes through the traction system to the winding system to wind up large film rolls.

Finally, according to the customer’s specifications, it will be cut, inspected and packaged for storage.

Uses of PET Film
Hard coated PET film

Electronics Applications

PET Film in Capacitors
One of the primary uses of PET film in electronics is as a dielectric in capacitors. Its excellent electrical insulation properties ensure that capacitors operate efficiently and reliably, even under high voltage.

Insulation in Electrical Components
PET film also serves as an insulator in various electrical components, protecting sensitive parts from heat and electrical interference. Its thinness and flexibility make it ideal for use in complex, compact devices where space is at a premium.

Display Technologies
In modern electronics, PET film is used in LCDs and touch screens. Its optical clarity and durability make it perfect for these applications, where visibility and longevity are crucial.

FAQ

Q: What is the use of PET film?

A: It has the best optical clarity and thermoformability. It is thus used in clear packaging. The most common use of this material is in the food and beverage industry. Because of its ability to withstand high temperatures, it is available in grades compliant with USDA and FDA safety regulations for food.

Q: What is the alternative to PET film?

A: PEF is an aromatic polyester, like PET. PEF can be produced by polycondensation of ethylene glycol and furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), which can be bioderived from renewable feedstocks such as sugars.

Q: Is PET film heat resistant?

A: Polyester (PET) films have a high thermal stability against high temperatures and can be used permanently at temperatures from - 70 °C up to 150 °C. The melting point of the films is over 200 °C.

Q: What is the difference between PVC and PET film?

A: It is important to note that PET is polyethylene terephthalate while PVC is polyvinyl chloride. PET is a thermoplastic polymer resin of polyester which can be moulded into different shapes to increase resistance. PET can withstand UV rays while PVC does not.

Q: What is the temperature range for PET film?

A: One of the most unique attributes that seperates polyester (PET) film from other thermo-plastic substrates is its ability to retain good physical properties over a wide temperature range. As a matter of fact, PET can withstand temperatures as hot as 150°C (302°F) and as cold as -70°C (-94°F).
